Olive R. Gardner

1914-2007

Olive Ruby Gardner -92, Mahone Bay, died August 2, 2007 at Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay. Born in Boylston, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Burton Jost Simpson and Jane Emma "Jenny" (Martin) Simpson.

A graduate of Provincial Normal College, she taught in Argyle, Aspen, Canso, Boylston, Stewiacke, Sambro, Auburn, Centre and Mahone Bay. As a minister's wife, living in Sambro, Hebron, Aylesford, Alberton (P.E.I.), Mahone Bay and Blue Rocks, she was very involved with church work, Cubs, Sunday School, youth groups and U.C.W.. In addition, she was active in the Canadian Cancer Society and many other community organizations.

She is survived by daughters, Beth (Tom) Ernst; Joyce (Paul) MacInnis; son, Robert (Reta) Gardner; grandchildren, Georg Ernst, Annalisa Ernst, Kris Ernst, Peter Ernst, Roy MacInnis, Marla MacInnis, Cara MacInnis, Toby MacInnis, David Gardner; sister, Edna Simpson, and brother, Roy Simpson, both of Boylston. She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Murray Gardner; brother, Albert Simpson; sisters, Beulah Paisley; Violet Wallace; Lillian Nickerson; granddaughter, Anna Louise Ernst.

No visiting by request. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m., Monday, August 6 in Trinity United Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Joan Conrad officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall.
