Jerome Swinimer
1933-2014
Jerome Bruce Swinimer, age 81 of Western Shore, died Nov. 1, 2014 surrounded by his family.
He was a son of the late Bruce and Viola (McDow) Swinimer.
Jerome leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Juanita (Swinamer); children, John (Suzette), Greg (Andrea), Lynn Countway (David), Neil (Ardith), Brady (Linda); sisters, Marie Schlais and Betty Long (Murray); brother, Leo (Avis); 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Sandra Swinemar-Turner; brothers, Otis and Murray; sisters, Joycelyn Cook and Goldie Swinimer; sister-in-law, Irene Swinimer.
Jerome was born and raised in Western Shore and in his younger years worked on the railroad, then as a carpenter. He was a lover of animals, most fond of his horses and his dog, Bowser. When not with his own horses, he could be found at the local horse pulls or community fairs.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay.
A graveside committal service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, November 6. 2014 in Western Shore Cemetery, Western Shore, Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or SHAID Tree Animal Shelter.
