Lillian I. Joudrey

Lillian Irene “Lilly” Joudrey. Age 96, of Blockhouse, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in November 1920, she was a daughter of the late LeRoy and Zilpha (Oickle) Ernst.

She is survived by sons, Richard (Brenda), Lower Sackville; Vance, Halifax; two grandsons, Brian (Faye), Deep Brook and Marc (Jodie), Lower Sackville; two great-grandsons, Jonah and Tyler, Deep Brook; sister, Verda, Lunenburg.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Emery in 2009; son, Gregory; sisters, Marie, Madeline, Gwendolyn and Dolly.

Lillian was a life-long resident of Blockhouse. She graduated from teh Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing and worked faithfully for many years at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. She loved to bake and her expertise in the kitchen was a labour of love for her family. Lilly spent many hours cultivating her beautiful flowers and shrubs around her home in Blockhouse, however playing cards with her family and friends was at the top of her list for entertainment. Off-season months would find her throwing stones at the Lunenburg Curling Club but she relaxed best during summers spent at their beloved “camp” on the shores of Lake Mush-a-Mush. Her close friends and family knew her to be feisty but compassionate in everything she did.

A funeral service will be held 2pm, Friday, January 6, 2017 in St. James’ Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Alvin Westgate officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Rest Cemetery, Blockhouse.

The family will receive friends 6-9pm, Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Mahone Funeral Home, 32 Parish St., Mahone Bay.

Memorial donations may be made to St. James’ Anglican Church, Mahone Bay or Garden of Rest Cemetery, Blockhouse.
