Stephen F. Boliver

1956-2019

Stephen F. Boliver
Stephen Freeman Boliver, Nov. 29, 1956 - Jan. 8, 2019.

Husband, father, son, uncle and friend.

Stephen passed peacefully in White Hills Long Term Care Centre after a long and hard-fought battle with early onset Alzheimer’s disease.

Steve will continue to be loved and missed by his wife of 38 years, Darlene and daughters, Jennifer (Tim) and Dacia (Adrian); several grandchildren; mother, Joan; sister, Heather and in-laws, Floyd and Jean Spidle.

Steve was predeceased by his father, Freeman Boliver.

Steve loved all kinds of music from classic rock to modern country and everything Elvis; playing guitar; traveling; hiking; biking; being a welder and a firefighter. Most of all Steve loved doing anything that involved spending time surrounded by family and friends.

Steve became a spokesperson for this disease to bring awareness that it is not solely a disease of the elderly. He spoke openly about his experience and participated in several research studies to help possibly find answers, including his final donation to the ‘brain bank’.

Thanks to the staff of White Hills for the attention and care given to Steve. Thanks to all the friends who loved and supported us in any and every way throughout this journey. Heartfelt thanks and much love to Nancy and Michael Richardson for walking every step beside us.

Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held 2-4pm, Saturday, January 12, 2019 in Mahone Funeral Home, 32 Parish St., Mahone Bay.

A full celebration of Stephen’s life will take place at a later date, time and place to be announced.

Donations in Stephen’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or to White Hills Recreation Department ‘music therapy’ program.
