John David Rafuse

RAFUSE, John David, age 78, of Western Shore, Lunenburg County, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater.

Born May 24, 1943 in Martin’s Point he was a son of the late Frederick and Goldie (Murphy) Rafuse.

John loved the ocean and went to sea as a scallop fisherman for most of his life. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Harding Br. No. 144, Western Shore. His battle with significant health issues in recent years showed his courage and strength in facing life challenges.

John will be dearly missed by his sons, Travis of Western Shore and David (Paula) of Pine Grove; his grandchildren, Dusten, Taylor, Ryan, Jaiden and step-granddaughter, Sydnie; his siblings, Margurite Teal, Maynard (Mildred), Marion (John) Ernst, Betty (Austin) Mosher, and Barry (Debbie); many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, and love of his life, Judy Gale (Joudrey) Rafuse; brother, Calvin and sister, Marilyn Collier.

A graveside service will be held 2:00pm, Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Western Shore Cemetery, Reverend Janet Hatt officiating.
