Stephen William "Steve" Daubs

1945-2024

Stephen William "Steve" Daubs
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Stephen (Steve) William Daubs on December 18, 2024, at the age of 79. Steve was born in Strathroy, Ontario, to William and Eileen (Finlay) Daubs, and was the loving husband of Yvonne (de Molitor) Daubs.

Steve’s journey through life was one marked by dedication, hard work, and a passion for adventure. He served proudly in the Canadian Navy aboard the HMCS Bonaventure, an experience that left a lasting impact on him. After his service, Steve spent several decades in the automotive repair business, running his own business before transitioning to a career as a blacksmith, earning a reputation for his unique craftsmanship and commitment to quality.

Locally, Steve was well-known as a dirt track race car driver, competing for many years at Sable River and Liverpool raceways. His competitive spirit and love for racing earned him respect among fellow drivers and fans alike. Steve was also a long-time participant in the Lunenburg Men’s Bowling League, where he enjoyed many years of camaraderie and friendly competition. In later years, Steve enjoyed spending time on his boat, and in his treasured “man cave”.

Above all, Steve will be remembered for his boundless energy, his love for life, and his exceptional work ethic. He leaves behind a legacy of excellent work, passion, and a cat like resiliency to death-defying accidents.

Steve is survived by family and many friends who will remember him fondly.

As per his request, a celebration of life will be held in the springtime. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to local food banks in Steve’s memory.

May he rest in peace, knowing that his remarkable life and work touched the lives of many.
