Ivan W. Dahl Jr. "Bub"

DAHL, Ivan Wallace Jr. “Bub” (1963-2013) -of Back Centre, Lunenburg County, age 49, passed away in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, March 10, 2013, with his family by his side.

Born in Lunenburg, June 29, 1963, he was the son of Ivan Sr. (Dorothy) Dahl, Chester Grant and Elmore Veinotte (late Clary Dauphinee), Clearland.

Ivan is survived by his sons, Ryan and Evan Dahl, both at home. He was a brother to Darren Dahl, Bridgewater and Michelle (Trevor) Banfield, Hebbville. His extended family includes, uncle, Andy Veinotte, Mahone Bay; aunt, Joan Veinotte, Mahone Bay; uncle, Lorne (Dorothy) Swift, Fall River; aunt, Heather Crowell, Cole Harbour; aunt, Shirley (late Maurice) Norman, Halifax; uncle, Steffen (Britt), aunt, Grete (Geir), uncle, Hans (Linda), uncle, Morten (Kristin) and his step grandmother, Liv, all of Norway; stepbrothers, Doug (Vicki) Ferguson, Conquerall Mills; Charlie (Susan) Ferguson, Bedford; Ross (Leanna) Ferguson, California; several nieces, nephews and cousins in Lunenburg County as well as several cousins in Norway.

Ivan was predeceased by grandparents, Walter and Marion Veinotte (Mahone Bay); Thor Dahl (Norway) and Francis Swift (Dartmouth); nephew, Colton Wile.

Ivan was a respected employee at Composites Atlantic and he also cherished the many friendships he had with each and every one of his fellow co-workers. He was a past member of the Mahone Bay Fire Department and an associate member of 19 years with the Mahone Bay Legion Br. No. 49. His passion in life were his two sons whom he treasured deeply. As a young adult, Ivan grew up in the Town of Mahone Bay where he had many childhood friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandparents, Walter and Marion. He loved to play cards, read and could many a time be found reading books pertaining to the history of the World Wars. In 1998, he accompanied his father on a trip to Norway in search of his Norwegian family.

Visiting hours, 7-9 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013 in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2013 in St. James’ Anglican Church, 65 Edgewater St., Mahone Bay, The Very Rev. John Wright officiating.

The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and nurses on the eighth floor of the VG Site, QEII for the care and effort they gave Ivan during his battle with cancer.

Memorial donations may be made in memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or in support of Ryan and Evan Dahl.
